Passed on January 1st 2023, this new law will help to ensure that the ADU laws are clear and in favor of new ADU construction. It will require all cities to change their ADU size limit to at least 16 feet. This will help to ensure more room for building future ADU projects and less red tape in construction. ADU height limitations can still reach above 16 feet, but they can no longer be lower than this height.
This law will help to create more 2-story ADUs allowing property owners to essentially double the space allotted for ADU development.
